Assay: dissolve about 250mg accurately weighed, in 50ml of anhydrous methanol that previously has been neutralized with 0.1N sodium hydroxide, add phenolphthalein TS, and titrate with 0.1N sodium hydroxide to the first pink color that persists for at least 30s. each ml of 0.1N sodium hydroxide is equivalent to 11.21mg C6H8O2
Heavy metals : prepare and test a 2g sample as directed in Method II under the Heavy Metals Test. Appendix IIIB ,using 20ug of lead ion in the control (solution A)
Melting range: Appendix IIB ,determine as directed for Melting Range of Temperature Proceduce for Class Ia, but heat at a rate of rise of 1C/min until the melting is complete
Residue of ignition, Appendix IIC Ignite 2g as directed in the general method
Water: determine by the Karl Fischer Titrimetrie Method, Appendix IIB
